Antec’s latest offering, the Performance 1 Full Tower PC case, is designed to meet the demands of high-end gaming and professional systems. With dual tempered glass windows, a mesh front panel, and a software-configurable top display, it is evident that this case is meant for serious users.
External design
The Antec Performance 1 PC case boasts a sleek black design, with 4mm-thick tempered glass side panels on both sides. The glass is attached to a metal frame that provides rigidity and is secured by pressure points and screws. The front panel features a diagonal mesh design that is easily removable and secured with magnets. Behind it lies a medium-grain dust filter and three preinstalled 140mm fans.
The top panel features a small LED display that allows users to monitor hardware parameters in real-time, managed by Antec’s iUnity software. The roof is a large opening with a magnetic dust filter and a removable metal cover. The I/O panel is aligned with the right edge of the case and includes:
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
- 1x 3.5mm audio/microphone combo jack
- Power and reset buttons
- Button to monitor CPU temperature on the display
The rear of the case has a standard layout, with a 120mm rear fan, eight horizontal expansion slots, and no support for vertical GPU installation. The bottom of the case has an opening for the power supply unit (PSU) and a washable fine-mesh dust filter.
Internal design and capacity
The Performance 1 supports Mini ITX, Micro ATX, ATX, and E-ATX motherboards within its spacious interior. It offers excellent cable management, with ample space and rubber grommets around the motherboard. The PSU cover has a grill to accommodate up to three fans, and the front panel provides around 65mm of space for radiators and fans.
The case supports graphics cards up to 400mm in length, with an additional 27-30mm reduction if a radiator is installed. For air coolers, it supports a maximum height of 175mm.
Cable management
The Performance 1 offers professional-grade cable management, with 30mm of maximum thickness and both vertical and horizontal covers for cable routing. Beneath these covers, there is a compartment with 35mm of space and three Velcro straps for cable organization. The left edge of the case also has three Velcro straps for CPU power cables.
Storage options include three 2.5″ HDD/SSD brackets behind the motherboard, a 3.5″ or 2.5″ drive bay beneath the PSU cover, and another 2.5″ bracket on top of the drive bay. The drive bay has a quick-release mechanism and can be repositioned or removed entirely.
Ventilation and cooling
The Performance 1 offers ample space for fans and radiators, with the following configurations:
- Front: 3x 120mm / 3x 140mm
- Top: 3x 120mm / 3x 140mm
- PSU cover: 3x 120mm
- Rear: 1x 120mm
The case comes with four high-performance PWM fans, three Antec Storm 140mm fans with speeds between 600 and 1500 RPM, and a 120mm rear fan with speeds between 600 and 2000 RPM. Radiator support includes:
- Front: 360mm / 420mm
- Top: 280mm / 360mm
- Rear: 120mm
Antec, a renowned name in the world of computer chassis, has delivered yet another impressive product with the Antec Performance 1. Boasting an array of features aimed at meeting the demands of gaming and professional users, this chassis offers versatility and efficiency in liquid cooling systems.
The front panel of the Antec Performance 1 supports maximum thicknesses of 65 mm for the interior face of liquid cooling systems, including radiators and fans, and accommodates sizes up to 420 mm. Depending on the configuration, users may need to remove the roof to insert the radiator from the top. Alternatively, fans can be placed on the exterior face, as sufficient space is available for installation. This enables the creation of a push & pull configuration for optimal cooling.
Should users choose to install the cooling system on the roof, there are no thickness limitations, except in cases where air dissipators or motherboard components obstruct installation. In these instances, components can only be installed on the interior side of the chassis.
The Antec Performance 1 provides ample room for custom liquid cooling systems, with loop capabilities determined by the size of the reservoir. Users can choose between a maximum loop configuration of a 420 mm front radiator and a 280 mm top radiator, or two 360 mm radiators for the front and top.
Final words about the Antec Performance 1 PC Case
Aesthetically, the Antec Performance 1 impresses with a sleek yet distinctive exterior design, featuring a double tempered glass front panel with safety fastening on the bottom edge. The magnetic front panel and removable roof add to the chassis’ appeal and functionality. Although a front filter similar to the base filter would have been a welcome addition, the modular design, with its removable roof, allows for easier installation of fans and radiators.
The chassis’ interior is equally impressive, offering a well-cared-for appearance and optimized spaces for large cooling system installations. While the Antec Performance 1 does not support vertical GPU mounting or hard drive bracket placement in the main compartment, it remains one of the best models in Antec’s lineup. With four high-quality PWM fans included and an LCD panel for temperature monitoring, the Antec Performance 1 delivers on its promise of exceptional performance and functionality for gaming and professional users.
